false cathédrale ist eine Konzertperformance, die sich aus zwei kontrastierenden und zugleich unmittelbar im Bezugzu- bzw. auseinander (ent)stehenden Teilen zusammensetzt.

Ausgangspunkt ist das Werk Cathédrale II, Mobile für 2-16 Harfen, wobei sich in diesem Fall für die Version für 8 Harfen entschieden wurde: Harfe Solo live und 7 weitere Harfen in zugespielter Form. Roman Haubenstock-Ramati konzipierte das Werk Cathédrale II als Raummusik, was quasi als Klanginstallation zu begreifen ist.

Aus diesem 25minütigen ersten Teil wird in Folge der zweite Teil false cathédrale entwickelt, was den eigentlichen Spannungsbogen der Performance darstellt. Die Elektronik bedient sich an den Bausteinen des Ursprungswerks Cathédrale I. Allerdings wird das Tonband-Material nun in Echtzeit bearbeitet, umgeformt, weitergestaltet und völlig frei verarbeitet. Es entsteht ein neue in Echtzeit gestaltete Komposition und Kathedrale, die sich nun allerdings durch ihre Fragilität und Fluidität auszeichnet.

false cathédrale is a concert performance composed of two contrasting yet directly related and simultaneously divergent parts.

The starting point is the work Cathédrale II, Mobile for 2-16 harps, although in this case the version for 8 harps was chosen: a live solo harp and 7 additional harps playing pre-recorded parts. Roman Haubenstock-Ramati conceived Cathédrale II as spatial music, which can be understood as a sound installation.

From this 25-minute first part, the second part, false cathedral, is subsequently developed, forming the actual arc of the performance. The electronics utilize the building blocks of the original work, Cathédrale I. However, the tape material is now processed, reshaped, further developed, and completely freely manipulated in real time. A new, real-time composition and cathedral emerges, characterized by its fragility and fluidity.
